 Satoshi Osada

1980 Born in Shizuoka prefecture, Japan
 2000〜Lives and works in Tokyo
2004 Graduated from Kokugakuin University, Bachelor of Philosophy, Tokyo

I draw and paint on the basis of study on the 20th-century abstract paintings,
especially those by Paul Klee, pursued since my college years under the instruction
of Makoto Miyashita, a professor of iconology. I segment the surface by vividly
 colored subsurfaces and draw
simple forms, just as in ukiyo-e and 80's video games,
using colored pencils and watercolors, sometimes with acrylic and Indian inks.
Recently, I introduced dripping technique into my work on the basis of study on
action painting, especially that of Sam Francis, to disturb and further vitalize vivid
and simple surfaces. Furthermore, given a hint by Klee's unique collage, I cut or
wrinkle papers, my support media, and combine several of them to reconstruct
 them into a paper.
I am, like mothers and fathers of abstract painting, fascinated by abstractness
of music stirring the imagination, so I use methods of dripping and collage as if
picturizing and remixing melody, rhythm, and harmony of electronic music.
